Board 2013
The TEIMUN foundation is looking for a new board of directors for the year 2013! We are searching for 7 enthusiastic full-time students from Groningen. Together you will experience a marvelous part-time board year!
There is more to the organization of TEIMUN than appears at first glance. Before the start of the conference a complete program is set, funds are brought in, which must be managed and participants are recruited from the Netherlands and abroad. Every year we summon prominent speakers, manage contacts with numerous ministries and other organizations and organize a second conference in the Academy Building. You will learn to deal with unexpected situations, both in preparation of and during the conference, and you will end year board year with an extensive international network. A year of TEIMUN is the ideal combination of interesting work, studying and social activities.
If you are interested and want to know more about TEIMUN, don’t hesitate to contact the current board. Below is a description of the various functions that the Board of the TEIMUN offers:
Chairman
The chairman is the face of the TEIMUN foundation. Therefore the chairman will be responsible for the external contacts of TEIMUN. This means you will be the contact person for other student organizations as well as the supervisory board, the CUOS, the Chamber of Commerce, the RuG and the conference staff. However, above all the chairman is responsible for keeping the overview of all the activities of the board. The chairman will prepare and lead the weekly meeting and will make a yearplanning; the chairman makes sure deadlines are made and finally the chairman gives speeches during the opening and closing ceremonies of the conference. Being able to speak fluently English and a high level of public speaking are required.
Secretary
The secretary is responsible for the administrative tasks. Managing the archives, writing minutes and checking mail are examples of secretary tasks. The secretary supports the entire board and often sits down and discusses issues with the chairman. The secretary manages the website, writes monthly newsletters and is in charge of the journalists during the conference. Besides administrative tasks the secretary has numerous PR responsibilities, i.g. making program booklets for both GRUNNMUN and TEIMUN.
Treasurer
The treasurer is responsible for the financial administration of the TEIMUN foundation. The treasurer will make budgets on which the organization of the conference is based. It is important that the treasurer regularly updates the books and provides the board insight in the expenditure and income of the board. The treasurer is involved in every major financial transaction so will often be in contact with other board members and the financial supervisory committee. Accuracy and punctuality are important qualities of a good treasurer. If you feel attracted to managing the TEIMUN budget this is the position for you.
Program coordinator
The program coordinator is responsible for the logistics of the entire conference. Making schedules, reserving locations , arranging catering, speakers, bands and excursions are all the responsibility of the program coordinator. Keep in mind that the function of program coordinator takes a lot of time. In return you will be at the center of the organization, involved in almost all the activities. After consultation some tasks of the PC will be distributed among teams of other board members.
Participants coordinators
The participant coordinators are responsible for recruiting the participants. This means that a large part of the tasks of the participants coordinators are PR related. You will be responsible for the posters and flyers, recruit promoters at foreign universities and manage the registration. The participants coordinators set policy concerning sponsor participants and will help foreign participants with visa applications. As a result you will make contacts with people and embassies all over the world. You will leave TEIMUN with an extensive international network.
Fundraiser
The fundraiser makes sure TEIMUN can be a success by filling the bankaccount. Contacting funds and corporations are a large part of the fundraiser tasks. You will be in contact with large European funds as well as with small local funds. The more funds the fundraiser receives the better TEIMUN can be organized. In the second half of the year the tasks of the fundraiser mainly inolve helping the other board members, in particular the program coordinator, which creates room for fun initiatives.

Application Procedure
The application procedure for TEIMUN is quite easy. Send us a mail with a letter of motivation in which you state for which function you are applying and what makes you the ideal candidate for that function. We also would like to receive your Curriculum Vitae and a small photograph.
You can either e-mail these items to info@teimun.org or write a letter to Stichting TEIMUN, postbus 41161, 9701 CD, Groningen. After we receive your letter we will contact you to arrange an interview.
It is possible to apply for multiple positions if you are not sure what positions fits you best. During the interview we will discuss the possibilities.
