Unity or Uniformity: Navigating Diversity in a Globalised World
Theme Description
This year’s theme is concerned with the dichotomy between Globalisation and Diversity. Globalisation has had – and continues to have – a remarkable impact on our world as we experience it. From the languages we learn and speak to technical innovations – barely anything remains untouched by it and development is often streamlined in a singular manner. At the same time there is a growing awareness regarding the necessity of safeguarding uniqueness and ensuring the survival of individual traditions, knowledge, history and cultures.
“Unity or Uniformity: Navigating Diversity in a Globalised World” In an increasingly interconnected world, the lines between cultures, nations, and identities are both blurring and being redrawn. Globalisation has brought people closer together, fostering collaboration, innovation, and shared progress. Yet, it has also raised a pressing question: Does our pursuit of global unity risk erasing the very diversity that defines humanity? This year’s theme challenges delegates to explore the delicate balance between ensuring cooperation while maintaining individuality.
From cultural homogenisation and political polarisation to economic interdependence and digital connectivity, the world stands at a crossroads where unity must not come at the expense of authenticity. This theme invites delegates to examine how nations can build inclusive systems that respect cultural, social, and ideological diversity while still advancing common goals. As representatives, you will engage in dynamic discussions, negotiate innovative solutions, and develop policies that uphold both global solidarity and the richness of human difference.
